Student Perspective: Navigating A-Level Study Leave at Repton Al Barsha
For many students, the transition from GCSEs to A-levels marks a significant step up in both independence and responsibility. On a recent episode of Dubai Eye 103.8’s Eye on Education, Year 12 Sixth Form student Sophia Takey from Repton Al Barsha shared her personal journey of managing study leave and preparing for exams.
Sophia reflected on the challenges of increased course content and emphasised how parental support—through encouragement and understanding rather than pressure—has helped reduce stress. She also offered practical study strategies, from using timetables and spreadsheets to taking regular breaks with hobbies like music and walks to stay refreshed.
Highlighting the importance of balance, Sophia noted that study leave is about more than academics; it builds independence and self-discipline, skills that are essential for success at university and beyond. Her advice to fellow students: focus on doing your best, not just chasing grades, while maintaining a positive mindset.
