Foremarke School Shares Digital Education Best Practice with UAE and Saudi Educators
Dubai, United Arab Emirates (March 5, 2019): Teachers and education specialists from across the UAE and Saudi Arabia gathered at Foremarke to learn about how they can achieve best practice in providing digital education in their respective schools.
Central to the event, which was also attended by parents of pupils and our teachers, was a special film showcasing our unique and inspirational journey to becoming an Apple Distinguished School, which took place over two years. Apple Distinguished Schools are centres of innovation, leadership and educational excellence that use Apple products to inspire creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. They showcase innovative uses of technology in learning, teaching and the school environment and have documented results of academic accomplishment. There are only a handful of schools in the UAE who have been awarded this accolade, Repton Abu Dhabi being another.
The 10-minute film saw parents, teachers and pupils espousing the benefits of using technology in the classroom and showcased the highly inclusive environment that it creates which significantly aids the learning process and the academic development of each child.
Our Headmistress Zoe Woolley comments: “We were delighted to be sharing our experience of becoming an Apple Distinguished School with other educators in the region. The film puts across, very succinctly, how our use of digital technology has allowed pupils to excel across a range of subjects; how it encourages high levels of engagement, inspires confidence and boosts self-esteem in children from a very young age.”
The UAE government places a keen emphasis on the use of digital technology in education as a major contributor towards a first-rate education system and a diversified and knowledge-based economy. Its UAE Vision 2021 National Agenda aims for all schools, universities and students to be equipped with smart systems and devices as a basis for all teaching methods, projects and research.
Zoe Woolley adds: “Knowing that we are actively working towards this larger endeavor and inspiring other UAE schools to do the same is a very rewarding experience for our teaching faculty and our pupils. We are mindful that while achieving recognition through the Apple accreditation is very significant, we must continually evolve our digital offering to make sure it stays relevant and effective in meeting the challenges of tomorrow’s world. Having a relationship with other schools who are focused on a similar agenda of vision and innovation is very important, and we see our film screening event as the start of further dialogue and co-operation between us.”
