Distance learning can feel overwhelming for families with young children. In a recent Eye on Education episode on Dubai Eye 103.8, Helen Farmer spoke with Mariam Taher, Head of Early Years at Repton Al Barsha, about how to make home learning more manageable and effective.

Mariam explained that, in the early years, play is learning. Simple everyday activities, such as reading together, setting the table, or spotting numbers and sounds, can support key developmental skills without adding pressure.

She also highlighted the importance of balancing screen time with hands-on activities, alongside maintaining a consistent routine to help children feel secure and engaged.

For parents, her key message was to keep it simple and positive. Short, enjoyable learning experiences, built around connection and everyday moments, are far more valuable than long, stressful ones.
