Wellbeing

Wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do at Repton Al Barsha and we are proud that our pastoral provision has consistently been rated as outstanding by KHDA. We appreciate that, from time to time, our pupils may encounter personal and academic challenges and the pastoral team consisting of form tutors, heads of year, teaching assistants and our nurse are here to support and guide them.

We believe in building strong relationships with pupils and their families so that we can work effectively as a team to ensure the best outcomes for each individual child. Our form tutors and Heads of Year know their pupils very well and are on hand to offer targeted support should the need arise. They monitor both the academic and personal welfare of their pupils, ensuring they are happy, achieving their best academically and developing into the well-rounded individuals who will make a positive contribution to society.

Should more specialist support be required to help a pupil through specific challenges, we can call upon the expertise of the Inclusion Department or our Medical Team.

Safeguarding

Our motto is that ‘Safeguarding is everyone’s business’.

As well as comprehensive background checks, all of our staff (including external providers and volunteers) must attend Safeguarding and Child Protection training with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) prior to commencing employment. The nurse, DSL and Deputy DSL meet weekly and the Safeguarding and Child Protection Team are readily available to discuss any concerns.

Safeguarding Policy

Health and Safety

A dedicated Facilities Team (security, maintenance and cleaners) are on site 6 days a week. Regular inspections and weekly meetings, with representatives from across the school, ensure a coordinated approach to monitoring and maintenance throughout the campus.

Clinic

Our well-equipped School Clinic is situated in the main reception area. Parents are able to consult the nurse or Director of Medical Services about any concerns they may have. If pupils are feeling unwell during the school day, they can alert their teacher and can then be taken to the clinic for assessment.

House system

Belonging to a School House means a great deal to our pupils, parents and staff.  Collecting House Points towards a variety of individual awards and a coveted House Cup, House meetings and House Events are an important feature of each term.

PASS and DSWC

From Year 1 upwards our pupils participate in an annual Pupil Attitudes to Self and School (PASS) survey. PASS is an attitudinal survey that helps us gain an insight into the mindset of pupils and remove any obstacles that may impact negatively on attainment. In addition to this, pupils from Year 5 upwards are invited to take part in the KHDA Dubai Student Wellbeing Census (DSWC). Started in 2017, this is a 5 year project that focuses upon wellbeing, happiness, quality of life and engagement.

Roles of responsibility

We believe that it is important to give our pupils an opportunity to develop their leadership skills. As such they are invited to become involved in organising and carrying out school wide activities and service projects.

  • Eco Council
  • Pupil Council
  • Digital Leaders
  • Heads of House
  • Sport Captains
  • Executive Council of Pupils (from Year 7)

School lunches

We are pleased to be working with Ginza to provide a variety of healthy, delicious and balanced meals for the pupils at Repton Al Barsha. Ginza uses high-quality ingredients to deliver fresh, nutritious food to our pupils every day.

Sport

Our pupils have the opportunity to participate in, enjoy and contribute to a wide variety of sports. It is widely recognised that a healthy lifestyle contributes enormously to a child’s sense of achievement and happiness.

As well as P.E., games and swimming lessons we offer and extensive range of Extra-Curricular Activities before and after school and at the weekend.

CARE Code

Repton Al Barsha places a strong emphasis on the values of respect and courtesy.  Central to this is our CARE code:

  • Common sense – use it!
  • Aim high – always do your best.
  • Respect, encourage and be honest
  • Enjoy and appreciate what you have

Celebration Days

Repton Al Barsha is a truly international community.  We create opportunities to promote and celebrate cultural differences with a variety of theme days and events such as National Day, International Day, Diwali and Ramadan.
